The idea was quite simple - a competition as part of the Friends of Wrenbury School Millennium Celebration and Country Fayre to see who could make the most imaginative scarecrow. The village took the competition to heart, and over a hundred scarecrows appeared in gardens throughout Wrenbury and the surrounding area over the weekend of 15-16 July. Wall to wall sunshire over the entire weekend drew in the crowds, and hundreds of people paid 50p for a scarecrow trail guide and competition entry, answering observation questions as they explored the village.
