Wrenbury Village Website - Scarecrow Trail

This year's Scarecrow Trail and Summer Fayre was a resounding success, and raised over £7000 for the Friends of Wrenbury School funds, 75% more than last year. The quality of the scarecrows gets better each year, both in the originality of the designs and the great attention to detail in their building. The end result is an event that is enjoyed by both villagers and visitors alike. The highlight of the event is the Summer Fayre, and this year's event was bigger and better than ever before, as the pictures below (courtesy of Riverside Photography) show.


The clear winner of the Favourite Scarecrow competition was the Helen Prentice's entry, The Wrinklees, both for its very clever idea and very detailed construction. The winner's trophy was presented by local MP, Stephen O'Brien, to a relative who collected it on her behalf.

All 172 scarecrow photos are available below. This includes a considerable number of additional scarecrows that were not entered for the event, so were not in the event guide. We have broken the scarecrow listing down into several pages, following the maps in the printed scarecrow programme. This stops any one page taking too long to download. Compared with last year, we have slightly reduced the size and resolution of the large scarecrow photos in order to make them load more quickly. A CD containing all of the scarecrow pictures at much higher quality (cropped from 1600*1200 originals, with minimum compression) may be made available for sale at a later date. All proceeds will go to Friends of Wrenbury School, who organised the Scarecrow Trail.
